The Collingwood Climate Action Team is here to invite you to the climate conversation and events that are happening in our community and the region of South Georgian Bay. Our planet is in danger because of human impact on the environment. We need your support whether you are new to the carbon conversation or an environmental activist. There is so much we can do together!

Our daily choices have a measurable impact on the environment called a ‘Carbon Footprint’ – the total amount of greenhouse gases that are generated by our activity. Five key areas impact our footprint- energy, transportation, travel, food, and waste. With your carbon footprint and our community footprint, we can find ways to reduce our emissions and help our planet.
No matter where we live climate change is affecting us today with implications such as extreme weather events including forest fires, droughts, tornadoes, less reliable snowfall, and new infections like COVID19. We know that change is necessary to solve the climate crisis. Our community goal is to have everyone reduce their footprint by 50% by 2030. There are solutions that are practical and will have a monumental collective impact.
Here’s how to get started:
• Measure – take your carbon footprint today AND Pledge join us on the journey to 2030.
• Act – then choose ways to reduce your carbon footprint – Use our Action Tools, participate in one of our Carbon Conversation workshops, join our mini-challenges that we will be posting regularly
• Impact- all of your lifestyle changes will have a positive impact on our planet and pledge to remeasure your footprint annually
We can envision a greener planet to enjoy now and in the future. Join us! We need 400+ households to submit their carbon footprint to measure our community footprint.
