Bridge Dedication in Orillia for Fallen OPP Officer

A bridge dedication is being held today in Orillia in memory of an O-P-P officer who died in the line of duty.
Commissioner Vince Hawkes will officially dedicate the bridge on Highway 11 in honour of Constable George Bennett, who died in 1980.
Bennett was checking on cottages north of Orillia with another officer when his snowmobile hit a rock on the side of a road, throwing him from his machine.
He hit a large boulder and died from massive internal injuries to the chest.
