Classic Hit Academy - Halloween Songs - Monster Mash - Bobby "Boris" Pickett

Since it was released two weeks before Halloween in 1962 it has become the definitive Halloween Party song.

Co-written by aspiring actor Robert Pickett the song set out to be a spoof on late 50’s early 60’s dance crazes like the Twist and the Mashed Potato.

Released as Bobby “Boris” Pickett and the Crypt Kickers the song, centred around Pickett’s impersonations of veteran horror stars Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi. The Crypt Kickers were session musicians who included Ventures drummer Mel Taylor and later to be famous in his own right Leon Russell on the piano.
