Classic Hit Academy - Empowering Songs for Women - "I’m Every Woman" - Whitney Houston

This song is about a strong woman who takes very good care of her man, supporting him and making him a better person. It was written by the husband and wife team of Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpson. The song was a signature tune for Chaka Khan who made it her first solo hit in 1978.

On that version among the back up singers was a 14 year old Whitney Houston. The song peaked on the US charts at #21

In 1993, Whitney Houston recorded her version of the song for Bodyguard film soundtrack.

Her release went to #4 on the charts. Houston pays tribute to Chaka Khan by yelling “Chaka” a few times near the end.
