Classic Hit Academy – Songs about Diseases - Double Vision – Foreigner

Foreigner guitarist Mick Jones and vocalist Lou Gramm wrote this song after seeing a 1977 Stanley Cup Playoffs game.

Although a majority of the public believed the lyrics made it a drug song, it’s really about a condition that overtook Rangers goaltender John Davidson.

Davidson was pulled out of the Stanley Cup playoffs game due to a medical condition. It was announced over the PA that he was taken off the ice because he was suffering from double vision.

Mick Jones had never heard the term before and we picked up on it as the title for a song.
