Classic Hit Academy - Songs Inspired by Other Musicians – I Love Rock'n'Roll - Joan Jett.

Not many realize that this breakout hit for Joan Jett was actually a cover tune.

A UK band called the Arrows wrote and released the song in 1975. According the Arrows songwriters the song was inspired by Mick Jagger. By the mid 70’s the Rolling Stones were now apart of the social elite and Jagger was hanging out Princes and millionaires.

The Arrows caught the Rolling Stones TV performance of “I Know It’s Only Rock n Roll”, to which they took as Micks an apology for rock music to his new more cultured friends.
This song was in answer to that.
