Icelandic Sheep Farm in Beaver Valley promotes local farmers and makers
Kimberley, ON | November 16, 2023: Kimber Valley Farms, a unique Icelandic sheep fibre farm, located in the stunning rolling hills of Beaver Valley in Kimberley, Ontario, is announcing their 4th annual Christmas Farmers and Makers Market to be held in the large, open horse arena on the farm. This ever-expanding event and a favourite in the region, will take place on Saturday November 25 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will showcase 34 local farmers and makers offering one-of-a-kind items for those looking for an engaging shopping experience.
Co-owner of Kimber Valley Farms, Lynn Thordarson commented, “As organizers of this amazing gathering of talent, we are constantly inspired by the commitment and hard work these local businesses demonstrate through their wonderful products. We are proud to be a part of this incredible community that simply strives to be the best at what they do. We invite our community to take home a little bit of excellence with them this holiday season.”
Market highlights you don’t want to miss include: back by popular demand is the Icelandic Viking Photo Booth with even more items to try on – then enter a photo contest for a great prize; be sure to stop by the Horse Barn on the way to the Arena which will be loaded with pancakes, maple syrup, baked goods and hot drinks from Black Forest Maple Syrup and Bread and Butter Café; the horse barn will also host Beaver Valley Outreach and a donation box for toiletries to help support our community members in need this holiday season. Also, feel free to take a stroll down the lane to take in the breathtaking views of the Beaver Valley and the beautiful Icelandic sheep including Kupcake, who just won Grand Champion in the fleece competition at the Royal Winter Fair last week.

Kimber Valley Farms will be selling their own Icelandic sheep fibre products which include felted fleece wall hangings, rugs, knit pillows, felted fleece pillows, dryer balls, festive farm frogs and gnomes. Just back from the fibre mill, there will be a selection of new hats, mitts and head bands. Raw materials are also available for fibre artists including raw fleece, roving, and yarn. Visitors can also learn about the industry-forward fibre workshops, farm tours, and unique Farm-to-Fashion experiences.
The horse arena itself is spacious, bright, and airy and protected from the elements. Parking is available on-site, but somewhat limited. Kimber Valley Farms is located at 236087 Beaver Valley Road in the Beaver Valley, close to the intersection of 119 and Grey Road 13. The white-domed arena is visible from the road. For the safety and stress reduction of their livestock guardian and flock, Kimber Valley Farms kindly requests that you not bring your dogs to the farm.

About Kimber Valley Farms
Kimber Valley Farms is an Icelandic fibre sheep farm located in Kimberley, Ontario, 25 minutes southwest of Collingwood and 90 minutes northwest of Toronto Pearson International Airport. Founded in 2012, situated on 92 acres in the bucolic setting of the rolling hills of Beaver Valley, the farm has grown to include Icelandic sheep, horses, and a livestock guardian donkey. Lynn, whose Amma came to Canada from Iceland as a young girl, has deep roots in Icelandic culture which has been passed down through generations. Kimber Valley Farms continues her family story through the shepherding of this unique, versatile, and beautiful heritage breed of Icelandic sheep.
