Midland Blood Donor Clinic

Across Canada, thousands more new and existing blood donors are needed to fill every open appointment from now through the end of summer to ensure there is an acceptable level of blood products to meet ongoing patient needs. New and existing donors who give with a team in our Partners for Life program are encouraged to keep their upcoming appointments and continue to keep Canada’s Lifeline strong throughout the summer by scheduling their next group donation.

A small group of dedicated donors continue to sustain the national blood system, but more are needed to grow the donor base and help keep Canada’s Lifeline strong. The impact of the pandemic has made the need to acquire new donors even more important to ensuring patients’ needs will continue to be met. One hour of your time donating blood, has a positive impact that can last a lifetime. Patients are waiting for your lifesaving donations. Every donation — whether you’re giving as an individual or as part of a team — has a ripple effect that goes on to have a lasting impact in the lives of others.

We need to build a more diverse donor base to meet complex and underserved patient needs. Blood from donors of the same or similar ethnic background as the recipient is less likely to cause complications. Achieving greater diversity in our blood system is particularly important for patients who need regular transfusion therapy, including those with sickle cell disease, cancer, thalassemia, or bleeding disorders.

The greatest human connection happens when you give a part of yourself to make life better for others.

If you weren’t previously eligible, you may be now. Whether you donate this week or next month, your contribution ensures patients in Canada receive lifesaving support where and when they need it. You can make a lasting impact on the lives of other.
