Walk on the Wild Side Scavenger Hunt

New “Walk on the Wild Side” Scavenger Hunt Debuts at Duntroon Highlands — Plus a Call for Artists to Expand the Highlands Art & Tree Trail

DUNTROON, ON – HealthWithNature.org is inviting the community to try something new this fall — the first-ever “Walk on the Wild Side” Scavenger Hunt, happening October 18 and 19, 2025 at Duntroon Highlands Resort. This creative outdoor adventure blends fun, discovery, and nature connection as participants explore the trails while searching for hidden clues and learning about local wildlife.

Set against the spectacular fall colours of the Escarpment, the Walk on the Wild Side encourages families, friends, and nature lovers of all ages to immerse themselves in the beauty of South Georgian Bay. Anyone can take part as this is partially funded by Tourism Simcoe County, but those who pre-register for $10 will be eligible for prizes.

Registration and full details are available at duntroongolf.ca/events/walk-on-the-wild-side-october-18-19.

At the same time, HealthWithNature.org is putting out a Call for Artists for three new art installations to be added to the Highlands Art & Tree Trail in 2026. Following the success of the first installations launched earlier this year, this second call aims to find artists with creative, nature-inspired ideas that encourage visitors to reflect on the connection between art, trees, and well-being.

Artists are invited to submit an Expression of Interest outlining their experience with outdoor installations and their inspiration for creating art in nature to the  theme “Pathway through History & Rewilding”. Submissions can be emailed to info.healthwithnature@gmail.com. Artists who express interest by October 31, 2025, will receive a detailed application package.

“The Highlands Art & Tree Trail continues to grow as a creative expression of how art can deepen our connection to nature,” says Martin Rydlo, one of the project’s organizers. “And with the first Walk on the Wild Side weekend, we hope to spark that same sense of curiosity and wonder in families and visitors exploring the trails.”

This initiative builds on the successful first Call for Artists in 2024, which brought together local creators to help launch the Highlands Art & Tree Trail.
