Independent Living Canada (IL Canada), founded 30 years ago, is a national umbrella organization, representing and coordinating a network of 25 Independent Living Centres at the national level. Breaking Down Barriers is one of those Centres. The mission envisions an inclusive and accessible society where people with disabilities are valued equally and participate fully.
On June 5th in Collingwood we have a special day planned for all, starting with a Walk’n’Wheel-a-thon that will begin from our location, 234 Ste. Marie Street at 11:00a.m
We invite all public, media and government representatives to take time on June 5th and join our walk to inclusion and show that diversity is our strength, our route ends at the Collingwood Museum Park with live music and where refreshments will be available.
We also encourage individuals to visit our Centre and utilize the support and services our Centre offers.
In order for this event to be a success we turn to you and ask for your support and assistance. We are currently asking the community to participate & complete the registration & pledge form. As a registered charity we count on fundraising initiatives to be able to provide much needed services, programs and opportunities for people with diverse disabilities to live independently in their communities.
Sponsorship opportunities are available!!!
In advance, thank you and we truly hope we can count on your generosity.
We would also like to invite others to organize their own Walk’n’Wheel-a-thon in the municipalities they are located in to support Breaking Down Barriers and Independent Living Across Canada Day and share photos & videos from their Walks of Inclusion to our social media pages
